Project DescriptionA self-initiated editorial design project built around the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells. I designed a full magazine package — cover, interior spread, and back cover — with a unified visual identity using bold typography, court photography, and graphic color blocking.
Magazine DesignTarget Audience
Tennis fans and sports enthusiasts who appreciate clean, editorial-style design. The magazine targets readers who want match coverage presented with visual energy and clarity.
Design Process
Design Problem
The main challenge was integrating real sports photography into a designed layout without losing visual hierarchy. Balancing dynamic imagery with readable type and a consistent color system required careful compositional decisions throughout.
I started by studying existing sports editorial layouts to define a visual direction. Using InDesign's grid system, I built the structure first, then brought in Photoshop for image masking and compositing. Typography and color were developed iteratively to maintain consistency across the cover and interior pages.
